Ten years ago, the largest conflict involving super-beings to date in Earth’s history began.
The confict was started when members of the Living Legends were informed by the galaxy-spanning order, the Infi Knights, that Earth’s solar system was in grave danger from an ancient threat.
This threat turned out to be in the form of an immense, black, manta-ray-like creature the size of an asteroid whose sole purpose was to destroy Earth’s sun. The Legends, who named the creature Eclipse, fought the first wave of it’s attack against the solar system. This wave consisted of aliens from worlds that had bargained with the god-like Eclipse for their solar systems to be left unharmed. Naming themselves the ShadowStar Legion, this alien army had sworn to aid the malevolent creature in attacking other worlds with intelligent life, making Eclipses’s crusade easier in the process.
The Living Legends and select members of OverWatch fought this ‘Legion’ in various locations around the solar system.
When the first wave was finally defeated, Eclipse itself attempted to finish the task it’s myriad of minions could not. It flew in rage and began exerting deadly waves of black energy, aiming them directly at the sun itself. One battle on Titan’s surface led to the physical death of Occulus, the super-sensing hero.
The final stages of the battle would result in the eventual death of Streamline, ‘Earth’s greatest hero’. Noticing how Eclipse seemed to rage at the sun, Streamline devised a plan. If all his fellow heroes could lure the creature to Jupiter, Streamline thought he could force it into Jupiter’s oppressive, radioactive atmosphere. The plan worked. But at a cost. Streamline tumbled into the winds of Jupiter along with his obsidian foe, neither to be seen again from that point on.
A space station was built in the aftermath of the battle to monitor for any signs of life, acting as an early alert system if either Streamline or Eclipse should rise again from the jovian atmosphere.
So far, Sentinel Station’s sensors show a negative for Streamline. Eclipse on the other hand appears to be alive but in a dormant state.
The sacrifices so many super-heroes made during the Eclipse War is remembered on the anniversary of the end of conflict. The EE Day Remembrance service takes place on the 22nd of January every year.
